Marliave, The American Dream, Bosworth Street, Boston, MA
“Henry Marliave, a French immigrant from Paris, arrived in Boston with a collection of recipes and the dream of finding success in the United States. Henry Marliave achieved his American dream by opening his namesake: Restaurant Marliave"

Marliave, 10 Bosworth Street, Boston

Tonight, I had to do a site visit for our office Holiday Party – one of my other jobs J.   I like to fit things in my spare time – really I have plenty of it.  I was checking out the Omni Parker House.  It’s a classic, old school, original Boston and might work for a theme we have in mind – Mad Men!!!  Could be cool right?
So, I met my friends Kathleen, Jaimee and her fiance for drinks at Marliave.  I love this place.  It’s like a little hidden hole in the wall down Bosworth Street (side street next to Beantown Pub).  It’s quite scary on a dark night walking down there but totally worth it once you arrive.  Décor is black and white classic Paris, a little shabby chic and has waitstaff that wear vests and are very accommodating.  They have an incredible Libation Menu that has the funnest cocktails.  I am a wine drinker myself, so stuck to the Chenin Blanc, but I did sample some tasters of my friend’s orders of fun cocktails.
“The Boston Cooler” was tried out – quite yummy…. “A storm is a ‘brewin’: Gosling’s black rum, domaine de canton, ginger beer, vanilla bean ice-cream.
“The Great Experiment” was also tried out…  “a noble experiment:  Hendrick’s gin, mint, lemon, orange, cucumber
And…
‘The Blind Pig”… “Jack and Charlie’s famous speakeasy:  Hendrick’s gin, mint, seltzer, bitters
What fun for a Wednesday evening.
On top of the fun drinks, we did try a few bites.  Firstly, the “Rarebits” – to which Kathleen did say “I don’t eat rabbit.”  To which I said “but it is cheese on toast –really.”   I do ask though “why on earth do they call it rarebits?”  Anyway, soooo, fabulous, cheesy goodness – can I just say yuuuummmmyyyyy. Yes, that good.  Cheese is right up there with wine for me.  I actually think I could live on cheese and wine and may be a little bread thrown for carb goodness.  I did have the pate and toast points with was also very good.
