“Gaslight, Brasserie du Coin, (literally brasserie on the corner) is The Aquitaine Group's classic neighborhood Parisian brasserie. Gaslight, located at 560 Harrison Avenue in Boston's historic South End, offers its guests French brasserie cuisine of impeccable quality and improbable value in an informal, old world, is new again setting. With its hand crafted Parisian zinc bar, reclaimed wood floors, mosaic tiles, beamed wood ceilings, nicotine stained walls and antique mirrors, Gaslight's decor is warm and inviting." Gaslight,

Thursday night I joined my goods friends Rob and Marybeth for dinner at Gaslight. I see Rob often, however Marybeth pointed out to me that we haven’t caught up in five months. How guilty do I feel! Where on earth does the time go? The absence of the last five months only added to the fun of our evening of major catch-ups of Marybeth’s hysterically funny date stories. I am very proud of her really putting herself out there. I am very poop at it.
Anyway, onto my views of Gaslight. I am a very frequent guest of Gaslight and always have a fun time. I love the atmosphere when I am in need of not wanting to think about what’s going on in my own head. Its high ceilings and subway tiled walls make for a loud, bustling, fun evening. Not really the place for a quiet romantic dinner.
We started the evening with a glass of wine at the bar. The place was packed and immediately got me out of my work haze I had been trying to shake off all week. I think going somewhere quiet may have had the opposite effect on me. Just seeing my friends put a smile on my face. We then sat down for the dinner in the restaurant. Dinner started with, of course, more wine, and then we shared the beet salad between the three of us… trust me it was enough along with the warm French bread that arrived at our table in a paper bag. The salad was quite delicious with just the right amount of horseradish to give it a tang. I then had the duck breast special over bean ragout – so good. My friends’ went with the pork and tuna dishes. We all tried everyone else’s dish and each got the thumbs up. Service was good, extremely friendly and very unrushed.
With the choices of sitting at the bar and sharing the best mussels in town, or sitting around the cozy cafĂ© tables for a fun date night, or joining friends in the large dining room for an evening of banter, good wine and great food… Gaslight can offer it all.

I had a great time too TFP. BTW just finished a little retail therapy on Newbury today. Hope you are having a nice wkd.
